EVELYN SHUSTER 1925 - 2005 Surrounded by her loving husband and children, Evelyn Shuster passed away January 2, 2005 following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was a loving warm wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She achieved life's most valuable status - friend. People from all corners of the world who came to know her, were taken by her kind and generous spirit. Her home was always a buzz with activity and her hospitality was extended to all. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents Ray and Charles Gordon. She leaves to mourn her husband for over 60 years, Izzy. Also, her daughter Rickie, son-in-law Sid Minuk, daughter Sheryn and friend George, daughter Cynthia, son-in-law Ben Friedman. As well as longtime son-in-law Gordon Smith; grandchildren Brad and Terri Minuk, Shannon and Nelson Bowley, Kevin and Tammy Minuk, Kyle Smith and Jared and Rae Friedman. Great-grandchildren Carlie and Beth Minuk, Jordan, Haley and Brett Bowley and Hanna Minuk. Her best friend and sister Gertie Chochinov (Lou); brother Norman Gordon (Roslie) and sister Ruth Gordon, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Evelyn enjoyed travelling, shopping and mostly playing bridge with friends at Gwen Sector. Funeral services were held January 5, at Etz Chayim Synagogue and burial at Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Sid Minuk, Brad Minuk, Kevin Minuk, Nelson Bowley, Ben Friedman and Bruce Chochinov. Honourary Pallbearers were Kyle Smith and Jared Friedman. The family would like to thank all the great care givers from Community Palliative Care who helped Evelyn out in her final months. Evelyn will be forever loved and missed, but never forgotten.
