GILBERT LOUIS JOSEPH (GIL) GIRARD December 4, 1939 - January 20, 2005 With sadness, we announce the passing of Gil, at his home in Edinburg, Texas at the age of 65. Gil spent 34 years with the Canadian Air Force before he retired in 1992. He then wintered down south and summered in Kingston, ON, Canada, till in 1999 he married his wife, Marty, and they settled in Edinburg, TX. He was a member of the Canadian Legion, Branch 560 in Kingston. Gil was diagnosed with ALS in 2003. He is survived by his wife, Marty, (nee, Hallman); son Kevin Girard of Edmonton, AB, son Wade (Darlene) Girard of Winnipeg, and daughter Dara (Corey) Mayo and their two children, Coady and Myles of Winnipeg, MB; sister Anne Marie Kurbis (Lorne, deceased) of Selkirk, MB, sister Denise (Joe) Harris of Bellingham, WA; brother Charles (April) Girard of Atikokan, ON, brother Maurice (Ruth) Girard of Kenora, ON and brother Philip (Lenora Zimmerman) Girard of Keewatin, ON; as well as two step-sons, Bill Pickard (Sandra Cook) of Chatham, ON and Andrew Pickard of London, ON. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Romeo Girard of Atikokan, ON; his first wife Lillian Spence of Winnipeg, MB and a son Shelwyn Girard of Calgary, AB. Cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of his life at the St. James Legion, 1755 Portage Ave. in Winnipeg, MB, on Saturday, April 23, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please makes donations in his name, to the ALS Society of Manitoba, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3J 0L3.
