FERDINAND MAIER It is with great sadness that the family of Ferdinand Maier announces his passing at home on Monday, February 7, 2005. Born to Adolph and Karoline Maier in Lypowka, Ukraine, on March 13, 1912, Ferdinand leaves behind Tabea, his wife of 65 years; his children, Erna Sorge (Valentin), Emily (Jacob) Boldt, Emil, Otto (Penny) and Reinhard (Noreen); grandchildren, Ruben (Tannis) Sorge, Danny (Mia) Sorge, Angela Sorge, Len Goerke (Judy), Anita (Alfred) LaRoche, Ray Goerke (Magna), Teresa (Sean) Hines, Kevin and Ryan Maier, Mitchell Maier; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Ferdinand came to Canada in 1952 with his wife and five young children and began building a life for himself and his family with strong work ethic and a true dedication to his family. Dad was a devout man who loved God and supported his church in any way that he could. He was a tireless worker and spent wonderful days in his garden and working with his bees, his lifelong passion.
