Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryABELARDO P. BURGOS Peacefully on February 10, 2005 Abel passed away at Riverview Health Centre. At the age of 64, Abel is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Cora; daughter Bernadette (Carey) with daughter Kiana; son Dale (Elizabeth) with children, Rece, Gavin, Johnathan and William; and youngest son Eric. He is also survived by his mother Gertrudis; sisters, Charit (Willie), Lou (Jun); brothers, Edgar (Amy), Billy (May Ann), Bing (Gina) and their families. Father-in-law Rafael de Jesus Sr., and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law and their families. Abel was predeceased by his father Martin and mother-in-law Julita. Abel and Cora were married on May 20, 1967 in the Philippines and came to Canada in 1974 with their daughter. Abel was very involved in his children's lives, driving them to volleyball games, martial arts lessons and didn't mind being their personal chauffeur. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf, watching the Food Network and The Big Breakfast morning show as well as spending time with his grandchildren. Abel was a devout Catholic and was very involved in his prayer group. He was very dedicated to his family, he was patient and always made sure everyone was well fed.... did you eat already? His favourite expression during gathering, bless the food. Abel was employed at Empire Iron Works as a fitter welder for a span of 30 years. Special thanks to the many friends who supported us during this difficult time. The family would like to thank the staff on GB3 and H4 wards of Health Sciences Centre for their care during his seven week stay. The family would also like to thank the staff of E3 at Riverview Health Centre for making his last days comfortable and peaceful. Special thanks to Dr. Dyck, April and staff of Kildonan Medical Centre. Lamay will take place on Tuesday, February 15 and Wednesday, February 16 from 6:00 p.m. until midnight at Glen Eden Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony's Parish on Thursday, February 17 at 10:00 a.m. with Msgr. Michael Moore officiating. Reception will take place immediately following the mass at the church hall. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend will be greatly missed.
