Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySISTER SIMONE CHARETTE, sgm Sister Simone Charette peacefully returned to the Father on February 12, 2005 at the age of 86 surrounded by her sisters, the Grey Nuns and the infirmary personnel at the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary Residence. Born in St. Boniface from the union of Guillaume Charette and Agnes Daigneault, Simone was the youngest child of a family of three in the first marriage. Her father remarried five years later to Agnes Courchaine. The latter proved to be a remarkable mother for the family. Four sisters and one brother were added to this family where true Christian values radiated. Metis of origin, Sister Simone always spoke highly of her ancestors always remembering what her father had contributed towards his people. Simone entered the Grey Nuns Novitiate in St. Boniface, MB on February 5, 1939. She consecrated herself to God in the footsteps of Marguerite d'Youville on August 5, 1941, followed by perpetual commitment four years later at the Mother House in Montreal. During Sister Charette's apostolic ministries, several places benefited of her many talents as house mother and teacher: Lebret, SK; Fort Frances, ON; Assiniboia, Winnipeg and St. Michael's North Dakota where she spent more than 15 years of religious life. When she returned to the Grey Nuns' Provincial House, she worked as a nurse's aide in the infirmary; later in Ste-Anne-des-Chenes as a pastoral worker in the parish. Having returned to the Provincial House in 1992, she continued to help in various community services. In all her various ministries, Sister Simone was recognized for her keen sense of perfection, her patience, and her unconditional love and acceptance of others. Woman of deep faith and prayer, she always found time to help those in need of a helping hand or a good word. Sister Simone Charette leaves to mourn three half sisters: Andree (Stein); Agnes (Joseph Woodzechi); and Gauberge (Tobin) one adopted sister Louise (Andre Guay) as well as Henriette Pambrum, a very close friend of the family. She was predeceased by her parents, her adopted mother, a sister Germaine, a brother Roland and one half brother, Guy. A liturgy of the Word will be celebrated on Monday, February 14 at 7:00 p.m. at the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary Residence. 321 ave. de la Cathedrale, Saint Boniface.
