MEI-WUN WAN YEE With her family by her side, Mei-Wun Wan Yee passed away peacefully on the morning of February 11, 2005 at age 90 in Victoria General Hospital. She will be missed and fondly remembered by her son Sanson Yee and his wife Bibiana Chan Yee; grandson Alvin Yee, his wife May Chow, and son Daniel, of Toronto; grandson Cassian Yee, his wife Sandra Gan, and children, Nathaniel and Carolyn, of Seattle; grandson Ka-Ping Yee of Berkeley, CA; brothers, Xian Bu Wan of Vancouver, Xian Fun Wan of Kaiping, China, Xian Tiafpt Wan of Boston, and Cheung Kwong Wan of Hong Kong, and their families; sister Ye Quan Wan of Kaiping, China, and her family; and many other relatives. She was predeceased by her four brothers and three sisters. Mei-Wun was born in Taishan, Guangdong, China on April 3, 1915. She lived for many years in Hong Kong where she raised her son, nieces, and nephews before immigrating to Toronto in 1975 and then Winnipeg in 1980. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and knitted prolifically, making them many sweaters, scarves, and hats. She also enjoyed gardening and exercising every morning and was very forthcoming in helping her friends. Viewing will be on Tuesday, February 15 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 16 at the Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway. The burial will follow the service at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Yunnan Project Hope to build schools for poor children in China.
