Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLGA TERLECKI It is with great sadness and sorrow that the family announces the passing of our dearly loved mother, grandmother (Baba) and mother-in-law, Olga Terlecki, on Thursday, February 10, 2005. She was predeceased by her husband Emil, on July 4, 1979, her son Leon, on January 6, 2000, and sister Genowefa Bilas on July 4, 2003. Left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss are her daughter and son-in-law, Lily and Bob Stefanick; daughter-in-law Gail Terlecki and grandsons, Allan (Jeanette) and Danny Terlecki; and cousins, Rose and Mike Mykytyn and Helen and Terry Allan. Olga was born in Stanislawow, Poland on May 18, 1909. At the age of 18 she immigrated to Canada, sponsored by her uncle, George Bilas, and arrived in Winnipeg in the fall of 1927. On March 1, 1930 she married Emil and that union lasted 49 years until his death. Mother was a very loving, kind and caring lady. She will be remembered for her strength, determination, and generosity. She was a very hard worker who maintained a sense of humour despite the hardships in her life. She was the Matriarch of our family and everything revolved around her. We were truly blessed for having her for 95 years. Mom was a fabulous cook and baker. Her perogies, cabbage rolls, stuffing, Easter Paska, honey cake, cookies and cinnamon buns were simply the best. The Sunday dinners and holiday celebrations were huge feasts all done by Mom. Mom always kept a meticulous house. Mother was very conscientious about her appearance and rarely missed her weekly hair appointments. She was also beautifully groomed when going out. Mom loved going to Mass on Sundays, attending various church functions, playing bingo and entertaining. She had a lovely smile and an infectious laughter that put a smile on everyone around her. Mom loved to travel. For many years she and her daughter travelled to Minneapolis annually for a week of shopping and eating at all the fine restaurants. After Dad passed away, she travelled with her daughter and son-in-law to Jamaica and Barbados for winter vacations, and to Grand Forks and Fargo for shopping junkets. On April 19, 1993, Mother suffered a debilitating stroke, leaving her paralysed and totally dependent on others. She remained very astute. Due to her daughter, Home Care staff and her grandson, Allan and later Danny, she was able to stay in her home until entering hospital for the last time on February 6, 2005. She was a lifetime member of St. John Cantius Church, member of the Catholic Women's League of Canada and North End Centennial Seniors. Mother was devoted to her family and loved nothing better than spending her time with them. We would like to express our deep gratitude to Dr. Barbara Biala for her care of our Mother throughout the years. The family would also like to thank the Home Care staff, especially Sharon and Anita, the nurses Lovey and Jasmine, as well as Kathy and Fely and all the others for their compassion and wonderful care of our Mother. Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff in Emergency at Seven Oaks Hospital and the fantastic nurses, especially Lisa, on the 5th floor, Unit 4. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 15 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Cantius Roman Catholic Church, 846 Burrows Ave. with Rev. Fr. Henry Uczniak as celebrant. Viewing will take place one half hour prior to the mass. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
