MARIO VASCOTTO 1912 - 2005 With immensely sad hearts, we announce the passing of our dear Papa and Nonno, Mario on February 12, 2005 at Health Sciences Centre. Mario was born in Isola D'Istria, Italy on June 16, 1912. He is survived by his daughters, Anita (the late Enzo) Buccini and Lori Buonpensiere; grandchildren, Tony (Carmela) Buccini, Rossana and Cristina Buonpensiere; great-grandchildren Ariana, Angelica Buccini; and son-in-law Pasquale Buonpensiere. Also mourning his passing are sisters-in-law, Maria, Gemma, Dina and brother-in-law Bruno (Trieste, Italy) and also many nieces and nephews. Mario faced his short illness with much patience and strong will. He was a gentle and peaceful human being who took pride in his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He learned to play saxophone in his youth and continued to enjoy playing in a band as he grew older. In his later years he enjoyed spending time with friends and family, making homemade wine and working in his garden. He will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched. To all our friends who loved and care deeply for our dad, thank you so very much. Our sincere gratitude to all the nurses and entire staff at GA4 at the Health Sciences Centre. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, February 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. with Rev. Fr. Renato Pasinato presiding. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 17 at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, 3990 Portage Ave. In observance of the Lent season, flowers are not accepted in church.
