Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERTRUDE ELIZABETH TURNER (nee McCONKEY) It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother and grandmother on February 12, 2005. Gertrude (Gertie) was born in Winnipeg on November 3, 1914. Her work history included Lever Brothers' in Toronto and Johnson-Hutchinson Jewellers in Winnipeg. Mom loved to sell fine jewellery and was always proud of frequently being top salesperson. After completing her most favourite job, being a full-time mom, she and dad enjoyed their retirement with many trips to Toronto and especially Florida. Predeceased by her beloved husband Fred in 1986, Gertie will be deeply missed by her loving children, daughter and son-in-law Barb and Gord Aronec, grandchildren Brandy and Cory; son and daughter-in-law Craig and Teresa Turner, and grandchildren Alana, Laura, Julia and Kevin; and her brother Tom McConkey, and his children, along with several nieces and nephews. She will always be remembered for her baking, sewing, special dinners and love of entertaining. Devoted to her grandchildren, she loved to plan her special play-dates, games and sleepovers. Gertie loved to laugh, share a joke, and happily greeted everyone with her favourite hellos - Tickle Tickle Toot Toot and Yoo Hoo. Special thanks to the staff of Bethania Personal Care Home for their constant love and attention to mom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. A memorial service celebrating her life will take place on February 18 at Bethania Personal Care Home, 1045 Concordia Ave., at 7:00 p.m. Cremation has already taken place.
