STANLEY LEYTE In great sadness, the family announces the passing of Stanley Leyte, husband of Jean Griffin. Stan had resided at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg until his passing at the Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, February 13, 2005. Stan was born in North Sydney, NS and grew up there until he moved to Winnipeg in his 20s. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Jean; brothers, Lloyd, Norm and Percy; sisters, Olive, Margaret, Mildred and Willena; children, Sharon, Mervyn, Sheldon (Terri), Terry (Linda), Jim (Colleen) and Charley; stepchildren, Larry (Madeleine), Jeannie (Irwin), Pat (Wendy), Margaret (Roy), Mike and James, as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Margaret (nee McDonald); brothers, Alfred, Harry, Walter, Charles and George; sisters, Louise, Edith, Irene, Myrtle, Nettie and Margurite. Stan worked for the City of Winnipeg for numerous years. He was a Legion 97 (now 252) member for 42 years. His greatest loves were his wife, children and family. He enjoyed bowling with the league, pitching horse-shoes, throwing darts and dancing the night away. He was a fun-loving man who enjoyed joking around with his family and friends. The family extends their warmest thanks to the staff of the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg and the Health Sciences Centre. A memorial service for Stan will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 252 at 426 Osborne St. on Thursday, February 17 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stan's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association (Manitoba Division), 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3G 1S6.
