MANUEL HORACIO FRIAS On Monday, February 14, 2005, Manuel Horacio Frias passed away at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 56 years. Manuel is survived by his loving wife Silvina; son Michael; daughters, Kelly and Natalie; grandchildren, Brentin Frias, Fernando Sousa and Jaylie Stevenson; mother Maria Luduvina; brothers, George (Angelina), Joao Luis (Salame), Jose (Gabriela), Gilbert (Adelaide), Octavio (Anna) and Carlos; sisters, Gloria (Manuel), Libera (Gabriel) and Maria (Joao); brother-in-law Joao Luis (Alda), Liberto (Carminda) and Joe (Nelia); sisters-in-law, Maria and Dulcina; mother and father-in-law Iria and Manuel Pacheco. Also left to mourn are five godchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Manuel Antonio Frias. Manuel was born in Pontad Delgada, Portugal on April 23, 1948. He immigrated to Canada in 1969 where he met and married his wife, Silvina, of 31 years. He was a person who would help anyone in need. Manuel will be greatly missed by family, friends and all who knew him. The family would like to thank the staff at the Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion. Prayers will be said on Friday, February 18 at 8:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 19 at 10:00 a.m., also at the church, with Rev. Fr. Jose Eduardo Medeiros as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Manuel's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, PO Box 2248, Stn.
