DORA COGHILL With family by her side, Dora, beloved mother, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2005 at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 81, after a lengthy illness. Left to mourn her loss are her son Greg, her grandson Michael and her sister-in-law Opal. Dora was predeceased by her loving and caring husband of 56 years, Milton in 2002; her sister Joan in 1990; and her mother Alice in 1988. Born in Hemel Hempstead, England in 1923, Dora served in the British Military until 1945, when her Prince Charming received permission to marry her and brought her home to Canada. Mom was always famous for her cooking, especially her Sunday and holiday dinners and she shared this working at St. John's College at the University of Manitoba until her retirement in the 1980s. Retirement gave them the opportunity get out and travel, whether it was to Canada or the United States or simply to Portage La Prairie for onion rings. Throughout her life and retirement she was loving and young at heart, unfortunately the passing of Milton and her great love for him, made it difficult to keep that spirit. We would like to thank the Victoria Hospital and their staff for taking such good care of Mom during her last few weeks with us. Their attention and patience made the difficult times more comfortable. A special thanks to Brian and Eileen for being good comforting neighbours. At Dora's request, cremation has taken place and there will be a private service for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation Inc., 2340 Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R3T 2E8 or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Be sad no more as you now rest in eternity with your true love. THOMSON IN THE PARK FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY 1291 McGillivray Blvd. - 925-1120

  • Dear Greg & Michael: We are so sorry to hear about Dora's passing. We will always remember her wonderful sense of humour and the way she always made us feel welcome in her home. You were certainly blessed to have her for a Mother and Grandmother. She will be missed by many but always remembered. We have you in our thoughts at this difficult time. - Posted by: Lewis and Lois Megaw (Friend) on: Feb 22, 2005
