It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Granny , and Great-Granny on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at Calvary Place Personal Care Home at the age of 89 years. Mom will be missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Arlene (Aylmer) Dunlop of Winnipeg and Roberta (Lloyd) Higdon of Edmonton; her devoted grandchildren, Duncan (Angie) Byquist and Christopher Byquist, all of Edmonton; and her two great-grandchildren whom she adored, Tyler and Paige. She is also survived by her sister Jennie (Sam) Gilmour in Vancouver; brother-in-law George (Iris) Mathieson of Edmonton; her sister-in-law Alice Mathieson of Regina; along with many nieces and nephews. Mom Mathieson was also blessed by having the love of Dorothy and Margaret Robinson. Mom grew up in East Kildonan, marrying her school sweetheart, Duncan in 1938. They had 38 wonderful years together before his passing in 1976. Mom was also predeceased by her brother Bobby; and her father and mother, Robert and Letitia Boyd. Mom was a member of Elim Chapel for 40 years and more recently Grace Bible Church. She was involved with the Elim Chapel Ladies Auxiliary, the Ladies Auxiliary of Providence College and Christian Women's Clubs of Winnipeg. Mom moved from the family home on Jessie Avenue into the Marina Del Rey apartment/condo complex in 1976 where she stayed until moving to Rosewood Village in 1999. In 2000, Mom made her final move to Calvary Place Personal Care Home where she made many new friendships especially with the staff on 2 South. Our family wishes to express our sincerest gratitude to all the staff for the love, care, compassion and dignity given to our Mom and for making Calvary Place a Special Home for her these past five years. Thank you - we always knew she was in good hands. A celebration of Mom's life will take place on Saturday, February 19 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Calvary Place Personal Care Home, 1325 Erin St., Winnipeg, MB R3J 2S3, to Providence College and Seminary, Otterburne, MB R0A 1G0 or to a charity of your choice.
