DONNA JOY ALLDEN (CHRISTENSEN)
Date of Passing: Feb 13, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONNA JOY ALLDEN (nee CHRISTENSEN) Donna passed away at her home and peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, February 13, 2005, now free of the pain and illnesses that plagued her for many years. She will be sorely missed by her devoted husband Ted, her children Susan (Gerry) Rocan, Doug (Michele), and Steve (Linda), as well as by grandchildren Crystale and Eric Rocan, Samantha, Hailey, Addison, and Sara Allden who were all a special joy to her. She was predeceased by her parents, Roy and Agnes Christensen and by her sister Shirley Stratford. Her surviving sister Marlene (Lou) Small and the families of both sisters also mourn her loss. Donna was born in 1934 and raised in the West End where she attended Gordon Bell High School. Upon graduating, she was employed first by Great-West Life until marriage to Ted in 1954, then by Montreal Trust. After the family was raised, Donna worked for a number of years with Sportsman Enterprises, Standard Welding and finally Balmoral Hall as Bursar. St. Matthew's Anglican was her church before she moved out of the area, later joining Ted at Westworth United. During the children's early years, Donna actively participated in the Home and School Association, and she organized the planting of flowers around the boulevard trees on all blocks of her street as a way of celebrating Canada's Centennial. Friends and family will remember how much Donna enjoyed entertaining, both in town and at the Victoria Beach cottage she dearly loved. She was an avid crafter, creating many knitted and crocheted items including award-winning doll clothes, sweaters and afghans. Gardening also gave her great pleasure. Cremation has taken place and, as Donna wished, no formal funeral service will be held, preferring that the family honour her in a small intimate gathering. In Donna's memory, friends may wish to contribute to a charity of their choice. The family extends sincere thanks to the personnel of the Palliative Care Program for their compassionate assistance at a difficult time. Those of us who knew Donna will hold her forever in our hearts. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 669 Broadway, 783-7211
