WILLIAM BASIL BRENKO aged 86 years, born December 21, 1918 passed away at the Pine Falls Hospital on Wednesday, February 16, 2005 after a long illness. William was a beloved husband, dad, uncle and was a true and loving friend to many, both people and animals alike. William was predeceased most recently by his little loving dog Sammy, before that by his beloved son Lonnie. He was also predeceased by his parents, Konrad and Oksenia Brenko (nee Kozak); as well as his sisters, brothers and nephews. William worked for the CPR as a blacksmith in the Weston Shops beginning in May of 1941 until joining the Army in August. He was in the Royal Canadian Artillery with the rank of Bombardier until his discharge in 1946 whereupon he became a Legion Member and a life long member of Branch #144. William rejoined the CPR until his retirement in December of 1979 and throughout he was a member of the CPR Pensioner's Club. William is so dearly missed and survived by his wife Victoria; son Bill; sisters-in-law, Margaret and Nellie; as well as many nieces and nephews, their children and by several truly loving friends. On William's wish cremation will be private to his wife and son and no formal services will be held. It was William's final wish that in lieu of flowers to the home that all donations be made to the Animal Shelter or to the St. Boniface Vascular Fund. William's wife and son send all their love to those who dearly cared for William. Lastly, our deepest and most sincere thanks to Harvey Giesbrecht of Russell Funeral Home in Beausejour for his gentle, thorough handling of our most grievous time. RUSSELL'S of Beausejour, Manitoba are in care of arrangements. Call 1-866-424-6271 toll free or 268-2263
