JAMES DON JONES On Thursday, February 17, 2005, James Don Jones passed away peacefully at the Grace General Hospital at the age of 79 years. He is survived by Jennie, his beloved wife of 49 years of marriage; his children, Joanne, Paula (Joe) and Don (Lynn); his grandchildren, Michael (Lyndsay), Stephanie, Tasha, Joshua and Jenna; his sister Vivian; and many nieces and nephews. James was born in North Carolina in 1925 and served in the Pacific Theatre during The Second World War. He graduated from Fisk University with a Bachelor's Degree and obtained a Masters of Fine Arts from Columbia University. In 1956, he married the love of his life, Jennie. James spent many years in the service of others and dedicated his life to teaching, helping and counselling young people. He taught at a number of schools including the Knowles School for Boys, the Shriner's Hospital and the Manitoba Youth Center. James also spent many years working for the CPR and Via Rail. He had a very charismatic and caring personality that touched the lives of all who were blessed to know him. James will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. On Monday, February 21 at 11:00 a.m., James' funeral service will be held in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 600 Cambridge St. A time of fellowship will follow in Crescentwood Community Centre. Our family would like to thank the health care team at the Grace General Hospital, who assisted James and his family.   • I remember “ Mr. Jones” from 1972 -3 school year when I was a teacher’s aide in his classroom at St. Joseph’s Vocational School. I was an unforgettable year- loved the kids who were very challenging- Mr Jones and I had 12 in our classroom. They lived at St. Joseph’s. I have many fond memories of him.
