Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERNA GRACE FISHER (nee STEEVES) 1926 - 2005 On Friday, February 18, 2005, Mrs. Verna Grace Fisher, nee Steeves, died peacefully at Bethania Personal Care Home. With implicit faith in Jesus Christ as her Saviour, Verna Grace Fisher was released from a long period of suffering and has now entered into her new life with Him in Heaven. She is survived by her son Marcus Fisher (Deb) of West Vancouver; daughter Susan (Bruce Farmery) of Port Moody, BC, daughter Kathryn (Russell Morrow) of Winnipeg (who made sure she got to the lake every summer); five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; son-in-law Brian Somers (Patty Wilson) of Winnipeg; one sister Muriel of Keewatin, ON; brother Jack (Alice) of Kenora, ON, brother Don (Myrna) of Halifax; sister-in-law Joan Durward; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Verna was predeceased by her father in 1959; her mother in 1995; beloved husband in 1986; and dearly loved daughter Judy Somers in 1983. Verna was President of the womens' group of the Oakview Baptist Church, taught Mission Band and liked to create a warm atmosphere in her home until she had to go to a nursing home due to M.S. in 1981. There she spent most of her time reading her well-marked Bible and praying for family and her fellow residents. Verna expressed many times her deep desire to follow those residents who died ahead of her. But she still remained cheerful, optimistic and content, and was a great blessing to visitors and staff alike. Funeral service (a celebration of her life) will be held at Bethania Personal Care Home on Tuesday, February 22 at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Gerhard Friesen will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Al Oliver, Bob Baker, Ray Baker, John Baker, Curtis Brooker and Ken Paul. Special thanks to Adina Penner, Phyllis Unrau, and to the staff of Bethania Personal Care Home, as well as special friends that took Verna to the cottage at Falcon Lake.
