DOROTHY JEAN CHASE (nee CUNNINGHAM) March 3, 1909 - February 18, 2005 Peacefully on Friday, February 18, 2005, Dorothy passed away at the Tuxedo Villa Nursing Home at the age of 95. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Earl in 1968; son James in 1986; grandson Michael Chase; sisters, Margaret and Meriel; and brother Winston. She is survived by her brother Aubrey Cunningham; her son Barry and his children, Candice, Kevin and Kerri; and granddaughter Anna Chase; and daughter-in-law Chrystina Chase. Dorothy was born March 3, 1909, in Souris, MB. She graduated from Manitoba Teachers College and taught school in various locations in Manitoba. She retired from teaching in Edmonton, AB, in the early 70s. Dorothy married Earl Chase on July 31, 1936. Dorothy and Earl had two sons, James and Barry. When Dorothy retired from teaching in Edmonton she moved back to Winnipeg. Until her mid 80s, she spent her summers at her cottage at Clear Lake, enjoying golf and playing bridge with her many friends. She was also an avid curler and participated in the sport until her early 80s. In lieu of flowers, friends may remember Dorothy by donating to a charity of their choice. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 23 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB.
