Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHANS (JOHN) GEDDERT On February 19, 2005, Hans Geddert passed away peacefully in the St Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit after a brief battle with cancer. He was born February 5, 1925, to Heinrich and Gertrude Geddert (nee Janzen) in Ukraine. Hans accepted Christ at the age of 24 and was baptized that same year on August 28, 1949, in Paraguay. He married Anna Klassen on May 6, 1950, in Paraguay and they immigrated to Canada in November of 1958. Hans worked hard to provide for his family and was an employee at Palliser Furniture for over 20 years. Hans was a true friend with a sense of humour and a gift for languages. He loved nature, and his gardens helped make the world a more beautiful place. A verse that meant a lot to him was Genesis 24:56, But he said to them, Do not detain me, now that the Lord has granted success to my journey. Send me on my way so I may go to my Master. Hans was predeceased by parents, Heinrich and Gertrude Geddert; brothers, Heinrich, Jacob, Dietrich, Peter; and sister Anna; his wife of 54 years, Anna (nee Klassen); and his grandson Samuel Theodore Geddert who passed away suddenly just hours before his Opa. He is mourned by daughter Gertrude Jean-Paul and husband Alix; son Walter Geddert and wife Anna Marie; son Teo Geddert and wife Carolyn; daughter Beverly Rosas-Leon and husband Jose; brother David Geddert and wife Emma of Germany; sister Lena Hooge and husband Abram of Germany; 16 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and extended family in Canada and Germany. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 24 at the North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway Rd., with viewing prior to the service. A fellowship meal will follow with interment at Glen Eden. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mennonite Central Committee or to a charity of your choice.
