BONNIE ELIZABETH EDGINTON (HOLOWATY) (nee RAINE) It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, at Selkirk General Hospital on February 20, 2005, at the age of 63. Mum's memory will be forever cherished by her loving husband Ernie Edginton; son Paul Holowaty; daughter Allyson (Rick) Sierhuis; stepchildren, Andrea Edginton (Koln) and Christopher Edginton (Chicago); grandchildren, Adam, Luke and Reid Sierhuis; brothers, Albert (Corin) Raine and John (Mandy) Raine (Gold Coast); brother-in-law George (Shirley) Edginton; nieces and nephews, Shannon (Ken), Matthew, D'Arcy (Peter), Sean (Jacky). Mum was born on April 29, 1941, to Maizie and Harold Raine. Mum was raised in East Kildonan where she later lovingly raised us with our dad, Dave Holowaty. Together, they taught us the wonders of nature, the joy of sport and the spirit of generosity. In 1984, mum realized her life long dream and became a registered nurse. She excelled as an emergency room nurse at Seven Oaks General Hospital, always striving to provide the best nursing care. Recently, mum had taken on a casual position at Betel Home where she was able to let her love and respect for the elderly shine. Her career path led her to form special friendships with such gals as Renee Bradley, Laurie Hay and Glenda Heinrichs. Ernie and mum were married in 1994. Ernie's great sense of humour and lively personality brought out the best in mum. From making the bed, to cutting the grass, teamwork always prevailed. The best times always included family and friends. Everyone looked forward to the annual pig roast held at their home on Netley Creek. And what would a Friday night have been without the meat draw and a good game of cards with the Petersfield gang. She delighted in all of her children's accomplishments and was especially happy to have Andrea and Christopher join the family. Her grandchildren gave her hours and hours of joy. Reid loved grandma's chocolate milk in Nana's bottle and Adam and Luke liked to drench their potatoes in grandma's delicious gravy. She was a devoted daughter, always concerned with her parents' well being. Mum was a passionate gardener, true to her Coulter roots. She enjoyed bird watching and the companionship of her dog buddy and grand-dog Jewel. Through the teachings of Nana, mum was able to create beautiful knitting and sewing projects that we will treasure forever. Above all, family and friends meant the most to mum. Mum sincerely appreciated the care and concern offered by family and close friends during her illness, especially Linda Boxall and Glenda Robinson. Many thanks to CancerCare Manitoba and Selkirk General Hospital for the professional and compassionate care she received. In keeping with mum's wishes, a celebration of her life will take place on Sunday, May 15 at the home in Petersfield. All family, friends and acquaintances are invited to attend. Please RSVP to Allyson at 663-1331. Gardening is a way of showing you believe in tomorrow. -Author unknown Should family or friends desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association by calling 925-3800.
