ANN SMITH (nee CRAPLEVE) Ann Smith, widow of George Calder Smith, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2005 at the Victoria General Hospital. Ann was predeceased by her husband George, who passed away in March, 1995. She was also predeceased by her parents, Paul and Nettie and brothers, Henry, Michael, Nicolas and John. Ann leaves to mourn her brother William Chryplywy and sister-in-law Marge of Beausejour; also by sisters-in-law, Mary Craplewe of Selkirk, MB and Mildred Williamson of Victoria, BC and numerous nieces and nephews. Ann was born at Ladywood, MB where she lived until joining the C.W.A.C. during the Second Word War. She spent the war years in London, England and Northwest Europe. Immediately after being demobilized from active service she returned to Europe to work with refugees and later at Canada House, London, England. On returning to Canada she was active in the Royal Canadian Legion and for many years a volunteer worker at the Museum of Man and Nature. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, followed by a reception. Many thanks to the staff of the Victoria General Hospital for the wonderful care they provided Ann during her stay at the hospital. Also thanks to Rev. Henry Lukusta for his visit with Ann.
