VALERIE MARY GILCHRIST (HYNDA)
Born: Feb 14, 1938
Date of Passing: Feb 21, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVALERIE MARY GILCHRIST (nee HYNDA) With tremendous sorrow, we the family regrettably announce the sudden passing of our loving wife, mother, devoted grandmother (Baba), sister, family member and great friend, Val Gilchrist, on Monday morning, February 21, 2005 peacefully passed away in her home. Left to mourn her passing are her husband Vern; son Michael and wife Sonja; daughter Deborah and husband Tom; and four beautiful grandchildren, Michael, Jasmine, Taya and Joshua; and many family and friends. Valerie was born on February 14, 1938. She was born and raised in Winnipeg with her parents and brother (deceased Michael and Eva Hynda, Norm Hayden) where she met Vern and were married in 1959. She worked for H S School Transport for over 25 years, so she was able to be at home for the summer with her children. Valerie's family was the most important thing in her life. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and everyone who knew her, couldn't get out of a conversation without hearing how proud she was of at least one of them that day. Valerie's other passion was her faith. She was very proud of her beliefs and was an integral part of all events at the Holy Family Church. She also belonged to the UCWL for over 12 years. You always could count on Val to not only get the job done, but it would be done well. Whether making perogies or organizing special events Val loved to be in charge and you ALWAYS knew you would get the truth from her whether you liked it or not. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, February 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1001 Grant Ave. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, February 24 at 10:00 a.m. also at Holy Family Parish with Rev. Mark Gnutel officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Valerie's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association. God bless you Baba. Your heart lives on forever in all of us...
