JERONKO KABAN October 17, 1922 - February 16, 2005 Jerry Kaban, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at Concordia Hospital, Jerry was born on October 17, 1922 in selo Stryhanci, Western Ukraine. He came to Canada in 1951 and worked hard to make a life in a new land. He met Margaret and they married on October 27, 1951 and moved to Winnipeg where they raised their family in East Kildonan. He was a long standing member of St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church, church committee and St. Andrew's Social Club until his illness. He worked many years for CN Railway until his retirement. He spent many hours gardening, fixing things, boating and fishing in winter and summer. He took great interest in his daughters and grandchildren and was always proud of their accomplishments. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret on December 19, 2003. He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Wilma (Jim), Iris, Patricia and Teresa (Peter); and grandchildren which include David, Steven (Kim), Wendy (Ryan), Melanie, Lauren, Audra, Robert, Bryan, Alison and Erin, and especially his beloved dog, Laddie who brought him happiness during her many visits to the hospital. He also leaves to mourn his sister, Joanne Kyzenko, relatives in Ukraine and sister-in-law, Jean Laskowski. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the Concordia Hospital staff and the Misericordia Health Centre for their care, kindness and compassion during his lengthy illness. Should friends wish, donations may be made in his memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E OV9. Prayers will be held on Friday, February 25 at 7:00 p.m. at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, February 26 at 10:15 a.m. at St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 160 Euclid Ave., with Fr. J. Holowaty officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
