CARLA MAE SIMON It is with great sadness the family announces that suddenly, while on vacation in Mesa, AZ, Carla passed away on February 12, 2005. Carla was born on May 12, 1942 in Langenburg, SK. Carla was raised in the Ashern, MB area where she attended the Marne High and Pioneer Schools. While attending Pioneer School she lived with Emma and Roy Lutz, where she formed a special bond with her cousins, Elmer and Harold. In 1957, Carla met Lawrence Simon. On February 23, 2005 they would have been married 43 years. Together they raised two girls, Lori and Denine. Carla provided child care services out of her home for over 30 years. Over this time she formed a special bond with the children and their parents. In 2000 Lawrence and Carla retired at their summer home at Lake Manitoba Narrows. This is the place where fun times and special memories were abundant. Many hours were spent around the campfire with family and friends. Special morning walks with Winnie, karaoke at the Lodge and card night at the Ashern Legion, just to name a few. Carla always looked forward to having her kids and family members come out and camp at their lot at the lake. The time that the grandchildren spent with Grandma and Grandpa for a week or two each summer will always be special memories. Living in the Siglunes area gave Carla a chance to spend time with her family and friends, especially her mother, everyone's nanny, Esther Busch. She leaves to mourn her husband of 43 years, Lawrence; her daughter Lori (Curtis) Hayden and grandchildren, Kristy and Cody; her daughter Denine (Conrad) Kiesman and grandchildren, Devynn and Dayna; her mother Esther Busch; brother Frank (Marlene) Busch; sister Gwen (Gordon) McDougall; brother Rodney Busch; sister Penny (John) Rakai; twin sisters, Marlene (Dave) Metner and Darlene (Angelo) Gill; twins, Leo (Sherry) Busch and Lee-Ann (Darren) Bednarek; Godchild Autumn Busch; brothers-in-law, Joey Simon, Randy (Diane) Simon and David Simon; 30 nieces and nephews and 11 great-nieces and great-nephews. Carla was predeceased by her father Leo Adam Busch; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Margaret and Victor Simon; brothers-in-law, Marvin Simon and Reid Simon; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Simon and Karen Simon; and special friends, Archie and Bernice Davidson. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, February 27 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ashern Centennial Hall with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Interment to follow at a later date. A special thanks to Elmer and Sharon Lutz, Don and Ronelda McLennon and the many family and friends who provided support in Arizona during this very difficult time. Thanks also to Arnason's Funeral Home for the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, or to the Ashern Legion in care of Frances Defoort, Box 634, Ashern, MB or to the Lakeshore Hospital Guild in care of Julie Bergner, Box 721, Ashern, MB for use in the Palliative Care Unit . Please know that the family always thinks of you and care. As you know my mom Lil passed away last year and I don't get to Winnipeg often as I live in White Rock, BC. If you or any of your family come out this way, please do not hesitate to give me a call. It would be so nice to reconnect to family members. Again, my sincere condolences.
