Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE HAMMOND (nee WHELAN) September 21, 1913 - February 22, 2005 With deep sadness we announce the passing of Anne Hammond on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 after a brief illness at Victoria General Hospital, with her family at her side. Anne was 91 years old. She will be forever remembered by her son Richard; grandson Richard; sister Roisin; sister-in-law Frances; nieces, Betty and Roisin; nephew Tommy and friend Ed Cleary. Anne was born in Dublin, Ireland and was predeceased by her loving husband Dick who died December 10, 1972. Anne came to Canada in 1980 and will always be remembered by not only being a great seamstress who made most of her own cloths up until about 1995 but mostly by her generous nature. She asked very little for herself, instead her happiness came from seeing other people happy and her generosity to her family was her greatest joy. Anne suffered in later years with the loss of her independence, but through it all she still smiled and laughed with grace and dignity. Cremation has already taken place and a memorial service to celebrate her life will take place on Monday, February 28 11:00 a.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Anne will be finally laid to rest in Dublin, Ireland with her beloved husband Dick. We wish to extend our sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at Golden Links Lodge for their dedication and compassion they gave to my Mom in her final years, they became her second family. Also our thanks to the Victoria General Hospital, Dr. Tomy and the nursing staff on the 4th floor who made her final days as peaceful as possible. Also a special thanks to Ed Cleary for his tireless support during a very difficult time. God saw you getting tired, He wrapped you in his loving arms And whispered Come with me . You suffered much in silence, Your spirit didn't bend. You faced your pain with courage, Until the very end. You tried so hard to stay with us, Your fight was all in vain, God took you in his loving arms, And freed you from your pain. A golden heart stopped beating, Two gentle hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He takes only the best. You're freed from all your pain Mom and have taken your rightful place as an Angel in Heaven. THOMSON IN THE PARK Funeral Home and Cemetery 1291 McGillivray Blvd. - 925-1120
