MAGDALENA (HELEN) HARMSEN Those of us who knew and loved Helen are saddened to announce the passing of a very unique and caring individual on February 22, 2005. Helen was born on March 17, 1924 in Stoltzenau, Germany. She was predeceased by her mother, father and brother. Helen immigrated to Montreal in 1951 and moved to Winnipeg in 1952 where she worked as House Mother at Balmoral Hall School for Girls for many years. She cherished all the girls at this school and kept in touch with many of them over the years. Helen then joined the Shriners Hospital team where she worked until she retired. She had an extreme love for animals, especially all the dogs she owned who were treated like beloved family. Helen had a unique way of looking at life and laughing at it as well as herself. Thank you to the 6th floor staff at Central Park Lodge and especially Judy and Marguerite for all their care and kindness. And a special thank you to Mrs. Johansson who has been a loyal and dear friend to Helen over the many years that they have been neighbours. Also, she leaves to mourn, her cousin Frieda and family of Argentina and her many friends living in Germany. She will be sadly missed by her longtime childhood friend Hilda Wiebe and Michael Wiebe and Clarie-Ann Isbister who years ago adopted her as Tante Helen. A private interment has already taken place. If you so wish, donations may be made in Helen's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Arrangements entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME 220 Hespeler Ave. @ Henderson Hwy. 668-3151
