Andre loved his family and when he was asked, Why did you have so many children? he would give this fond response When I get old, I'll never be lonely . Andre believed in his community, as exemplified by the many committees and boards he sat on-Verdun School District Secretary-Treasurer, the board of La Caisse Populaire de Ste. Rose, Ste. Rose Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Columbus Council # 5105, 4th degree Knight of Columbus, St. Viator's Assembly, Ste. Rose Parish Council, LeCoq Club, Dr. Gendreau Memorial Personal Care Home, United Grain Growers, Ste. Rose Hall Committee, Ste. Rose Agricultural Society, Councilor for the RM of Ste. Rose, Hoof 'n' Holler Days Committee, Ste. Rose Library Board, Ste. Rose Liberal Party and others. Andre raised his family along PTH # 5, five miles south of Ste. Rose du Lac. He operated a mixed farm including beef cattle, a dairy, pigs, poultry, dogs, rabbits, cats, children and the grain farm. The mainstay of this operation was the dairy in which all of the children were expected to hand milk their share of the cows. Many stories arose of the adventures of milking cows, especially when a foot of water flowed through the barn during the flood of 1975. His house was open to one and all-the strangers stranded along the highway, the neighbours who needed a helping hand, all of his children's friends, and the numerous others that he called friends. Everyone was welcome to un petit coup and a share of the dinner table and once cleared of dishes, this same table became the setting for many a spirited card game. Andre and Jeanne moved into the town of Ste. Rose du Lac in 1994 to enjoy their retirement years. Dad's greatest joy was meeting his buddies at the coffee shop - Emile, Lucien, Charlie, Al, Julius and many more. He will be missed. Prayers were offered on Thursday, February 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church. Sr. Therese Cloutier and Simone Worrall led the service. Funeral service was celebrated on Friday, February 25 at 11:00 a.m. from the Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Paul Tinguely celebrated the mass with the interment following in the Ste. Rose Cemetery. Active pallbearers were his children; Lucien, Adele, Jean-Louis, Aline, Denis and Paul. Everyone in attendance at the service was to consider themselves as honorary pallbearers. Members of the 4th degree, Knights of Columbus St. Viator's Assembly and members of Ste Rose Council # 5105 formed the honor guard.
