MARGARET (MUGS) DUNLOP (nee EMSLIE) With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our dear friend Mugs on February 20, 2005. Mugs was born May 7, 1933, to Jimmy and Effie Emslie. She attended Luxton School and St. John's Tech. After school, she worked for MTS. In 1953, she joined the Royal Canadian Air Force Military Police and was posted in various stations for three years. Mugs was an avid sports fan and quite an accomplished athlete herself. She played hockey for Winnipeg Canadianettes All Stars (1949) and Moose Jaw Bruinettes (1951). Mugs was predeceased by father Jimmy; mother Effie; brother Donald; and sister Carol. She is survived by a multitude of friends and will be deeply missed by all. Special thanks to doctors, nurses and staff of the Oncology Department, Concordia Hospital. Cremation has taken place. Interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, The Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of your choice. A celebration of life will be held on March 1, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at West Kildonan Legion, 1748 Main St., the Darlington Lounge.

Although it has been awhile since we saw each other, it does not mean that she was not in my thoughts. I admired that she lived her life her way, even when it flew in the face of society’s perceptions of the way a woman should live. Her way of life has influenced the (better) person I am today, and for that I thank her. I am unhappy that I cannot attend her Celebration of Life and meet the people who were truly dear to her. To them, I say thank you for being there for her. - Posted by: Camille Girard (nee Hines) (Family) on: Mar 01, 2005

Fond memories of Mugs helping me to skate and play hockey at St. Cross rink, and accompanying us on the Luxton School winter hike along Scotia to Kildonan Park. All the little kids admired the Tom-Boy, Mugs! - Posted by: Don Cundall (Acquaintance) on: Feb 26, 2005
