GIUSEPPE (JOE) ZINGHINI 1920 - 2005 Peacefully on February 23, 2005, Giuseppe Zinghini entered into the loving hands of the Lord at the Concordia Hospital with his devoted wife Angela and his family at his side. Giuseppe was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Concetta, stepmother Amelia; his brother Domenico; his grandniece Daniela; brothers-in-law, Luigi la Rosa, Gregorio and Frank Torchia; sister-in-law Catherine Aiello. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Angie of over 44 years; his sister Pierina La Rosa and family; brother Carmelo Zinghini and family; sister-in-law Domenica Zinghini and family; brothers-in-law, Joe and Tony Torchia and families; sisters-in-law, Mary Torchia, Margaret Lozinsky and Stella Torchia. Giuseppe was born in Gerace, Reggio Calabria, Italy, on December 17, 1920, and immigrated to Canada with his older brother Domenico in 1948. Joe and his brother settled in Winnipeg where they rejoined their father. He worked most of his life at the CNR Shops in Transcona as a Carman and retired in January of 1982. He was a dedicated employee who developed many friendships during his career with the railway. Joe was a friendly man. During his retirement, Joe enjoyed meeting old friends in the mall, and always had time for a chat and a good laugh. Joe had a love for classical music, especially the opera, and attended many performances as a season ticket holder with the Manitoba Opera. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially hockey, football and soccer. Joe will be greatly missed by family and many friends, for he was always happy to see people and always greeted them with a welcoming smile. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 28 at 11:00 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Parish Church, 710 Roanoke St., with Fr. Gerry Ward officiating. Entombment to follow in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum in Waverley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Tony Zinghini, Arturo Zinghini, Carmine La Rosa, Mario Cianflone, Nino Torchia and Andre Leveille. Angie and her family wish to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Concordia Hospital especially in NE3 and NIS for the care and compassion extended to Joe during his stay. Angie also wishes to thank all friends, neighbours and family who so graciously offered their love and support with offers of rides, food and just being there for her.
