MOIRA FRASER MASSON May 8, 1935 - February 18, 2005 Those who loved Moira Masson bid her a final farewell and wish her peace. Moira passed away at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 69 years. Her sister Lynn Barthel and children, Suzanne and Deb and sister Joan McCuaig and children, Alison, Stuart, Alex and Nancy, as well as the extended families and friends will cherish the gift of her life. Moira was born and raised in Winnipeg. She graduated from Kelvin High School, and then went on to Business College and a teachers certificate from Teachers College. Her academic studies took her to University of Manitoba to obtain a Bachelor of Education and Masters Degree. Her career took her to British Columbia and back, eventually leading her to St. James Collegiate then Sturgeon Creek Regional Secondary School as a guidance counsellor. Her students discovered a compassionate caring person willing to simply listen and offer real life support. As a young woman she excelled in track and field, figure skating, tennis, skiing and dancing. Her interests were diverse and eclectic, including opera, dance and theatre. Moira's energy found her performing with the Nelly McClung Theatre group. Moira's zest for life took her around the world, travelling to many lands and experiencing many cultures. With her father in the 1960's she journeyed to Scotland, Russia, Europe, Rome, Egypt and the Middle East. In her later years her favourite winter getaway was the Gold Coast of Australia. Moira will be remembered and loved as an individual whose passion for life was evident in everything she did and accomplished. Her family and friends will be forever blessed having known her and being touched by her individuality, which made her the special person, she was. Together we will celebrate her life at a memorial service to be held March 4, 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd. at the corner of Dieppe Road. An invitation to share together times will be extended to all in an open mike forum.
