Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLARA SCHIK With deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved Aunt Clara Schik (nee Lucow) February 20, 2005, at the age of 95. Clara was born in Shpola, Russia, on December 11, 1909, the daughter of Ben and Bertha Lucow. Together with her two older sisters, Sarah and Edith, and younger brother Sol, they immigrated to Manitoba in 1914. Clara was a devoted wife, sister and aunt to her family and a generous friend to all. Over the last number of years, she was completely involved in the care of her older sister Edith. Clara was a very generous supporter of many charitable organizations and she was recognized as a lifelong member of Hadassah-Wizo. Her weekly bridge game, together with her partner Eileen Slezak, at the Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre was an anticipated outing. Clara was predeceased by her husband Bernard in 1967; parents Ben and Bertha; sister and brother-in-law Sarah and Louis Rosen; brother and sister-in-law Sol and Bessie Lucow; brother Maurice Lucow; and brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Celia Ganetsky. Clara is survived by her sister Edith Sair; sister-in-law Marion Lucow; and nieces and nephews who she adored and was adored by Ron (Rube) and Sharon Ganetsky, Walter (Vev) Ganetsky, Penny Ganetsky, Bea and John Tobias, Ruth and Mike Schueller, Laurie and Carol Lucow, Susan and Glen Binnington and Beattie and Elliot Cohan. Her great-nephews and nieces also held a special place in her heart. Special thanks to her very dedicated friend and companion Krystina Kowalska and her husband Ed and their daughters, Jola and Alixandra. Barbara and Werner also gave great friendship and assistance to Clara over the years. We would also like to thank all of the homecare staff and the Seven Oaks Hospital staff, Unit 4, 5th floor. A graveside service was held at the B'Nay Abraham Cemetery on Monday, February 21 with Rabbi Peretz Weizman. Pallbearers were Vev Ganetsky, Rube Ganetsky, Leonard Ganetsky, David Ganetsky, Morgan Ganetsky, Bea Tobias and Howard Jesierski. A fund has been established at The Jewish Foundation of Manitoba, The Clara and Bernard Schik Memorial Fund. Donations in Clara's memory can be directed there.
