Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELEANOR OLIVE MELVIN (nee GEIB) It is with great sorrow her family announces Eleanor's passing, Sunday, February 27, 2005. She leaves to mourn, her loving husband Wilbert Samuel Melvin; children, Colleen Jordan (Robert), grandson Shane (Heather) and great-granddaughter Keira; Maureen Melvin-Elias (James), grandchildren, Richard and Jaclynn; Noraleen Loewen (Willy) and grandchildren, David and Jessica; Russell Melvin (Charlene) and granddaughters, Vanessa and Victoria; her sister Marguerite Robertson; and many nieces and nephews. Eleanor was predeceased by her parents, Sophia and Philip Geib; brother Clarence; and her first husband James Brady. Born October 17, 1924, by midwife on Johnson Avenue in Elmwood. In 1931 the family moved to Bonner Avenue in North Kildonan. She attended Lord Kitchener School, was a member of Kildonan Canoe Club, and was an avid skater and skier. Her great love was singing, and she sang like an angel. Eleanor met and fell in love with Mel, and when her sailor came home, they were married at St. Stephen's Anglican Church, May 17, 1947. While raising her family, Eleanor was active in Sweet Adelines and in the church choir at North Kildonan United Church. Eleanor and Wilbert loved to dance, sing and entertain. Their Christmas Open House became a 40 year tradition with their many friends and loving family. She will be sadly missed by the Skip-Bo Gang. Eleanor was a truly loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, and was loved and respected by all who knew her. We shall all miss her. Neufeld, the nurses, doctors and staff of Concordia Hospital for their compassionate care. A celebration of Eleanor's life will be held on Friday, March 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home, with Rev. Marc Whitehead presiding. Interment at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., R3A 1P6 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald St., R3L 0K6.
