MARLENE DAWN GISTI (nee BROWN) With great sadness, the family of Marlene Gisti announces her sudden passing on Saturday, February 26, 2005 at the age of 57. We take comfort in knowing that Marlene starts her journey alongside her sister-in-law and good friend Audrey Pepin, and her beloved dog Rylee. Marlene will be greatly missed, and lovingly remembered by her husband Martin; children, Kevin (Laura) and Joanne (Doug) Meister; father Murray Brown; brother Don (Valerie) Brown; grandchildren, Darren, Emma and Eva; a loving extended family, and a vast network of close friends. Marlene was predeceased by her mother Helen Brown, father-in-law Alf Gisti, mother-in-law Jean Gisti. Marlene was born on August 13, 1947, and raised in Inwood, MB, where she met and married Martin. They settled in Winnipeg, where Marlene devoted herself to raising her family, taking pride in her children and their accomplishments. For many years, she balanced this loving home-life with her second career in the accounts department of United Messenger, and enjoyed working there among friends. Every summer opened the revolving door on the family cottage where Marlene welcomed friends and family alike, and no guest was ever sent away hungry. Her most cherished role however was as Grandma to Darren, Emma and Eva. She adored her grandchildren, and they filled her heart with joy. Marlene embodied warmth and generosity, to be invited into her home was to be treated like family. Everyone who knew her carries fond memories of coffee and laughter around the kitchen table, or fabulous meals and more laughter down at the lake. She will be missed by so many. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to all who have offered their help at this difficult time. We are especially grateful for the efforts of the RCMP officers, paramedics and all who stopped to offer assistance. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 3 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Chad's Anglican Church, 3390 Portage Ave. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Grace General Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Dr., R3J 3M7 or Children's Wish Foundation, 350 St. Mary Ave., R3C 3J2. • My memory of Aunty Marlene will always be the joy and love in her face as she held her grandchildren. Little Eva in Aunty Marlene's arms on Saturday was so beautiful. Aunty Marlene always took the time to talk to our family and make us seem included. At Christmas Eve her home was so warm and welcoming. We can't imagine a family event without her. - Posted by: Susan Bater (Family) on: Mar 02, 2005
