KATHERINE (KATIE) CORDA (nee KAZINA) Peacefully, on Monday, February 28, 2005, Katie passed away at the Charleswood Convalescent Home, her home for the past two and one half years, at the age of 89 years. She is survived by her two daughters, Gloria Wood and Rose Beaubier (Peter); two sons, Stanley and Arnold Corda; grandchildren, Kathryn Makl (Jeff), Donald Wood (Mona), Karen McLachlan (Brad), Laura Wilkie (Mark), Robin Corda and Carol Corda; great-grandchildren, Samantha and Travis Makl, Eric and Lisa Wood, Zakary McLachlan and Christopher Corda; her two sisters, Julia Pfiefer (Fred) and Cecelia Mikoliew (Gordon); sister-in-law Mona Corda; and numerous nieces and nephews. In 1999, Katie was predeceased by her husband Joseph, of 65 years of marriage. On January 26, 1916, Katherine was born in Tyndall, MB to Nick and Antonina Kazina. Throughout her life, Katie was a homemaker, farmer, store clerk and her husband's real estate secretary. She loved to garden and fish and together, Katie and Joe received Master Angler awards. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 4 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 255 Stafford St. at Corydon Avenue, with Rev. Fr. Joseph C. Johnson, S.J. presiding. Interment will follow in the Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. Special thanks to the staff and caregivers at the Charleswood Care Home for their care and compassion they gave mom for the past two and one half years.
