Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGENEVIEVE HELEN MIKULA (WAPLAK) Peacefully on February 29, 2005 at The Charleswood Care Centre, Genevieve, passed away at the age of 99 (oh wait her birth certificate says 100), beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, beloved wife of the late Anthony Mikula. Jean was born in Poland on August 24, 1904 (yes Grandma we found your birth certificate) and immigrated with her family to Canada in 1909. She lived in Winnipeg and married Anthony (Tony) on November 8, 1924. She was predeceased by her loving husband Anthony in 1967; brothers, Ed, Harry; and sister Kay. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Lorna and husband Harold Davis; grandchildren, Jim and wife Gail Davis, Deb Chrisp and Ron and wife Janet Davis; great-grandchildren, Colin and wife Vicki, Sean (Jim), Angela and Tyson (Deb), and Alexis (Ron); and a great-great-granddaughter, Julianna (Colin). Jean was full of life and laughter, telling jokes and playing the odd prank. She loved to spend time on Long Bow Lake where she enjoyed fishing, picking berries and mushrooms and spending time with her family. Jean and her sister Kay spent many lovely vacations in Long Beach at her Nephew Mel's home. In her later years she cherished her ventures with her Carriage House gals going on their many trips for lunch, Gimli for pickerel and lemon meringue pie, playing cards with the girls and gambling at the casino. The family would like to thank all the staff of the Charleswood Care Centre for making Jean's last year happy and enjoyable. Memorial service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. on Friday March 4 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jean's memory to the Cancer Research Foundation.
