IRENE HABIB passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at West Park Manor. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Dr. George Habib in 1993. She is survived by her sister, Jean Chapman, 92, Mereheath Park, Knutsford, Cheshire, WAI66AP, England and her niece Eleanor Chapman, Kent, England; her brother-in-law, Edwin Habib (Barbara) and nieces, Daphne and Sylvia and their children in Ontario; as well as further of George's family in California, Trinidad and England. Irene was born in Manchester in 1922 .She went to Trinidad in 1951 to teach the children of the Regent Oil Company staff. There she met George Habib and they were married in 1961 in England. Irene and George first lived in Edinburgh, Scotland and in 1966 came to Canada and made their home in Winnipeg. Irene was an active member of the Crafts Guild of Manitoba and the Arthritis Society (formerly known as CARS). A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 28 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Grace General Hospital, 300 Booth Dr., St. James. The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at West Park Manor for their kindness and care of Irene. Special thanks to Irene's companion, Elizabeth Greenwood, whose compassionate care meant a great deal to Irene.
