EVA LUBIG (MERKATZ)
Date of Passing: Mar 03, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVA LUBIG (nee MERKATZ) Peacefully in her home on March 3, 2005, Eva Lubig, aged 70. Eva leaves to mourn her passing her devoted husband of 49 years, Alfred; daughters, Ev (Burt), granddaughters, Karlee and Kelly; Carrie (Todd), granddaughters, Jenna, Krystyna, Dayna; Cindy (Ken), grandson Kenny; her mother Eva, sister Maria; many other relatives both in Canada and Germany, as well as her numerous friends. Her brother Michael, father Michael, nephew Michael and stepfather Joseph predeceased her. Eva was born in Hungary and immigrated to Canada in 1948 with her mother and sister. They settled down in Sprague, MB. She later spent a brief time in British Columbia and then moved to Winnipeg, where she married and raised her family. Her absolute joy was spending endless hours in the spring, summer and fall, gardening both at home and at the cottage. The care and attention she gave to her plants and flowers was carried through into everything else she did. Her talents were many and focused on home and hearth - cooking, baking, entertaining, embroidery, needlepoint, crocheting, knitting and sewing. She also had the patience to teach these skills to her children. She was a great mom and a doting Grandma to her six grandchildren. She was also a great friend. In the winters she spent her time volunteering in the Thrift Shop at First English Lutheran Church as well as curling at the Fort Garry Curling Club, both places where she will be sadly missed. The family would like to thank her personal physician Dr. Kotecha, Dr. Harris and the staff of Grace Cancer Care, Dr. Crowe and the wonderful staff of 3E at Riverview Health Centre, as well as Janice and the palliative home care staff for the care and kindness they showed Mom during her treatment. Mom, we will love you always and miss you forever. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Rev. R. David Lowe officiating, followed by a gathering in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre to celebrate Eva's life. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may make a donation to Riverview Palliative Care Ward 3E, One Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0Z9, or Grace General Hospital Foundation Oncology Department, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7, in her memory. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca
