JANTJE (JANET) DEKKER Peacefully, surrounded by her family and friends, our beloved mother and Beppe at the age of 87 was taken home on March 3, 2005 at the Concordia Place Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her husband Anno (2001) and three brothers. Left with countless and precious memories are daughter Anna (Art) Funk; grandchildren, Jennifer and Eric, Winnipeg; son Melgert (Gudrun) Dekker, Vernon, BC; sister Froukje (Hans) de Haan, The Netherlands. Janet was born in Oenkerk, Friesland, The Netherlands on August 19, 1917. On June 5, 1947th Janet married Anno, the love of her life. In 1954 they came to Winnipeg, Canada. In Holland during the war she worked as a nurse. In Winnipeg she was a top salesperson for Avon, sold real estate and finished her work career as a River East School Division bus driver. She loved to sing in e church choir. Janet was a breast cancer survivor and volunteered for many years with the Cancer Society. She also was an avid volunteer for Concordia Hospital. She will always be remembered for her strength, determination, great faith and love of family. Her beautiful smile will forever be etched in our memories. Mom, we take comfort in knowing that you and Dad are together again. Love you for always. Our thanks go to all who enriched Janet's life with their time, thoughts and care. Special thanks go to Katharina and Ken Krebs, Linda Jackson and to the staff on the 3rd Floor, Concordia Place, for their care and compassion. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 653 Knowles Ave. Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at Green Acres Cemetery for the family, at a time to be determined. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there, I did not die.
