DAVID MELNYCHUK It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, David Melnychuk, on March 3, 2005. David was born on September 14, 1921 in Silver, MB, and was the fourth of five children born to Michael and Pearl Melnychuk. David entered adulthood during the Second World War, leaving his hometown to serve in the artillery. Following the War, he moved to Winnipeg and entered trade school to become a licensed auto mechanic, working faithfully and tirelessly for several automobile and truck dealerships in Winnipeg over his career until his retirement at age 70. He was an avid reader and passionate nature lover. He delighted in gardening and watching ainimals. David leaves to celebrate his memory, his wife of 45 years Cecile (Bourbonniere); daughter Lise; son Dean (Nancy); his three grandchildren, Michael, Bradley and Stephanie; his sister Tina; and many nieces and nephews. He joins his parents, Michael and Pearl; sisters, Ann and Helen; and his brother Hillary. Special thanks are extended to the staff at Victoria General Hospital and Beacon Hill Lodge, as well as to Dr. Roy Smith. David's life will be celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Memorial Church, 254 Arnold Ave. at Osborne, on Thursday, March 10 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. God looked around His garden, And found an empty space. He then looked down upon the earth, And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you, And lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew that you were in pain, He knew that you might never, Get well upon this earth again. He knew the road was getting rough, And the hills were too hard to climb. So He closed your weary eyelids, And whispered, Peace be thine. It broke our hearts to lose you, But you did not go alone, For part of us went with you, The day God called you home.
