WILLIAM LANCASTER 1916 - 2005 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of William, beloved husband and best friend of Phyllis on March 4, 2005 at the age of 88. William was predeceased by his loving wife (Phyllis) of 62 years: they are together again. William is survived by two sons, Gordon, wife Gabe and granddaughters, Tracy and Krista of Vancouver, BC, and Ron, wife Ann and grandson Scott of Winnipeg. Also left to cherish his memory is his sister Jean Lancaster and many dear friends. William was born on April 25, 1916, to Thomas and Hannah Lancaster in Aspatria Cumberland England. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Thomas and sister Nora Taylor. William worked at Ashdown's Wholesale as a packer, Manager and Superintendent from 1937 - 1958; except for 3 years he spent in the Canadian Army where he attained the rank of C.S.M. He also worked at Western Smallwares for seven years and later for Westeel Rosco where he was working when he retired in 1981. William enjoyed playing the violin and was a member of Machray and St. John's School Orchestras. Many happy summer days were spent at Brereton Lake and William was especially fond of water-skiing and fishing. In later years he enjoyed playing the electric organ and keyboard and took great pride in his workshop where he worked at oil painting and woodcarving. His later summers were spent in his trailer at St. Malo, where he enjoyed swimming and gardening. At William's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba in his memory or a charity of your choice. The hardest thing in life to bear, to want you Dad and you're not there. With a broken heart we whisper low, we love you Dad and miss you so. As long as we live, we'll always be glad that we were your children and you were our Dad. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
