Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN BERNADETTE WYKER July 2, 1908 - March 4, 2005 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen, affectionately known as Auntie Helen or Choch on March 4, 2005 at the Selkirk and District General Hospital at age of 96 years. Helen is survived by loving nieces, Irene (Michael), Gloria, Evelyn and Adele; nephews, Lorne and Henry (Edith); sisters-in-law, Lucille and Stella; and many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband William (October 1983); siblings, Paul, Mary, Leon, Rose and John. Helen was born in Narol, MB and looked after her ailing mother for many years. She married William in October 1939 and enjoyed being a homemaker. They travelled extensively throughout Canada, the United States and Mexico. In later years they enjoyed camping, primarily in Ontario. Helen was a very gentle and caring person. She loved having company drop by and everyone was welcome in her house. She lived in her own home until August 2004, then due to declining health, moved into a nursing home. Due to her gentle nature, she was loved by all the staff. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff for all their care and compassion. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 9 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Rev. Msgr. Louis McCloskey as officiant. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Diabetes Association. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

My name is Lila Gattinger, a former Winnipeger. While in Winnipeg I worked for Dr. Noel Book and came to know Helen there. When I moved to Calgary in 1988, she insisted on taking me to lunch as a goodbye gesture. She was always to kind and very much a lady. We all enjoyed her when she came to the office. I am so sorry for your loss. LiIa Gattinger - Posted by: Llila Gattinger (Friend) on: Mar 07, 2005
