ELIZABETH JANE THIEVIN (JENNIE) February 8, 1905 - March 5, 2005 Peacefully, March 5, 2005 Jennie went to meet the angels and beloved family. Jennie left this world surrounded by the love of her family. Jennie was predeceased by her loving husband Ernest Joseph (1960); her sons, Richard Ernest (1981), Albert Henry (1998); grandson Gary; granddaughter-in-law Claudette; great-grandson Curtis; brother Dick Grayson; and sister Connie Hales. Left to remember her spirit, is her son Garnet and Bunny; daughter-in-law Alice (Dale Bowman); her grandchildren, Christopher, Joe and Nadine (Kristin and Mike), Penny and Sheldon (Amber-Dawne, Tyler, Laurel, Devan, Koenraad), Sharon and Rex, Marvin Cindy and Joe and family, Lori-Ann and Garth and family; sister-in-law Rose Grayson and family. Jennie just celebrated her 100th birthday, smiling and even joking about not telling her age . Jennie was an outgoing and active woman. Losing her husband, she learned to even run the dairy farm. Jennie was very active in her community and in her later years continued to play cards with the Balmoral Seniors and she loved her bingo. Life was difficult for Jennie, losing her husband and two sons, she still always had a smile for everyone. She was well known for Homemade . Never could you stop by without tea and a delicious homemade treat. She loved to sew and knit, making barbie doll clothes for her grandchildren and mending their clothes (that they would sneak to her). Everyone had homemade mitts, made from wool she took from old sweaters bought at garage sales. Always willing to give anything she could. Jennie was also well known for her green thumb . Anyone visiting her gardens would see row upon row of her peonies, tulips and various wildflowers growing. Her garden was her constant source of joy and she canned everything she could. Jennie's grandchildren will remember the laughter in her home and the popcorn. Jennie always had time for family and no matter what she was doing, she would stop and make time for those she loved. In 1999, she moved from her family home to Rosewood Lodge, where she continued to share her smiles. Her great-grandchildren remember her green peppermints, cinnamon hearts and her bubble gum machine, which she carefully kept a jar of pennies close at hand. Jennie never complained, she asked for nothing in life, but gave so much to those around her. She will be remembered for her smile, her loving nature and sense of humour. Jennie has gone to meet the Angels, to be with God and those she lost. To walk forever in God's Garden of Beauty. We have lost the best thing in our life, our mother. She was and always will be the greatest love in our lives. We will miss you mom. Garnet and Bunny. Lovingly remembered by her family and friends, go in peace, Jennie, you are now at rest. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 8 at 2:00 p.m. in the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Pallbearers will be Ken Hibbitt, Kerry Baldock, Jack Willis, George Willis, Jack Bouskill and Larry Schaeffer. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Great memories yet vague. Great grandmother that used to always feed me cookies and laugh when dad and I would stop by for coffee. Last time I saw her was in a old age home in Stonewall and she called me Curtis (brother to me) till my auntie reminded her I was Marvy's youngest boy! I was pretty young and could only laugh and cry at the same time! I used to play at uncle Garnet's place with his peacock after cookies and milk! She will be missed and a part of my past I will never forget! R.I.P - Posted by: Richard Wade Thievin (Great grandson) on: Nov 22, 2015
