Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEMILIA HOLIAN Suddenly, but peacefully, on Sunday, March 6, 2005, Emilia Holian passed away at Holy Family Nursing Home with her family at her side. Emilia was born October 24, 1918 in Nemyriw, Western Ukraine. She was the second eldest of seven children. After completion of high school, she worked at a radio station in Drohobych, Western Ukraine. During the Second World War, she and her family returned to Nemyriw, where in 1942 she married Ivan Holian. In July 1944, together with her husband, brother and two sisters, she left Ukraine. Her parents and three brothers remained behind. In Germany, she and her husband were assigned to a refugee camp in Amberg, Bavaria. In 1949, together with her husband and sister Daria, she immigrated to Winnipeg to join her sister Maria and brother-in-law. Emilia was employed at United Garments in Winnipeg from 1950 until her retirement. She and her husband became part owners of Famous Meats and Groceries until Ivan's untimely passing in 1968. In 1967, she was reunited with her mother in Winnipeg. She was a member of Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral. Emilia was predeceased by her parents, brothers, Oleksander, Bohdan and Roman. She leaves to mourn her brother John Holian and sister-in-law Dagmar, sisters, Maria Kalicinsky and Daria Borowyk; nieces and nephews, Alexandra Hetmanczuk (Victor, children, Taras, Alexander and Natalia), Roman Holian (Anna, children, Andrea and Kristjan), Ihor Kalicinsky (Roma, children, Marko and Vera), Roman Borowyk (Cynthia, children, Stephanie and Michael), George Kalicinsky (Christine, children, Alia and Eva), Tania Kyslycyna (son Ivan), Larissa Borowyk (Phillip) and Chrystyna Kalicinsky. Prayers will be sung 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 10 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 11 at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor St. with Fr. M. Kouts officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff of 3A at Holy Family Nursing Home, especially Rosalinda. Thank you to Seven Oaks General Hospital and Dr. B. Gorski for their care.
