EUNICE ROSABEL MARGARET MCARTHUR Peacefully on March 7, 2005 in the company of family and under the compassionate care of staff and volunteers at Jocelyn House, Eunice McArthur passed away at the age of 78. George, her loving husband of 58 years, predeceased her by just six short months. She was also predeceased by her parents, Elma and Earl Machan; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Ted Birss; mother and father-in-law, Beula and Thomas McArthur; and sister-in-law Lois Thompson. Left to mourn are her children, Lynn Bridgeford (Jim), Earl McArthur (Sandra), Colin McArthur (Dragica), and Nancy Collette (Paul); grandchildren, Glen (Collette), Todd, Lorie, Bill (Colleen), Corey, Deanna-Lynn, Jory, Devin, Julian, Kristina, and Carson; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Daniel, Braydon, Shannon, Kendra, and Cassidy; brother-in-law Alfred McArthur (Kay); and sister-in-law Olive Sergeant (Nat); plus numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was born on January 26, 1927 in Dauphin, MB. On November 30, 1945, she married George, the love of her life, and together they made their home in various towns throughout Manitoba and Saskatchewan as they lived the nomadic lives of railroader and wife. In 1960, they were finally able to settle in and around Winnipeg. Eunice was a devoted mother who loved her children dearly. Nothing was more important to her than family. She was also quick to befriend others and there are many neighbours and acquaintances that were touched by her motherly ways. She was a long-time member of the Rebeccas, the women's branch of the Odd Fellows Lodge. She spent many days curling on a team with her husband, but Eunice and George's greatest project together was to build and then to live in their cottage at St. Malo. It was the site of many sweet memories of summers past as family and friends gathered around the campfire and enjoyed each other's company. She was a talented artist and family and friends will continue to enjoy her paintings that hang in many of their homes. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 10 at 2:30 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. #1 E. at Navin Rd. Interment to follow in Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Jocelyn House, 177 Egerton Road, Winnipeg, MB, R2M 2W7. Softly and tenderly you touched our hearts. With love we cherish your memory. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Always known to me as Aunty Eunice, she was one of the kindest and most caring people I have been graced with knowing. On many occassions she had watched me while my mother was at work. Countless times she had to endure me "obsession" with playing store in her house, not being allowed to pass down the hall unless she "bought" something. Her talents in art had inspired and impressed me. I shall forever be thankful that our paths had crossed in this life as she has had a profound effect on me. God bless and love always Aunty Eunice. - Posted by: Scott Pawluk (Friend) on: Mar 15, 2005

  • We shall miss her very much. She was a special person in our lives. I especially will miss stopping by for coffee, and our late evening phone chats. - Posted by: The Pawluks (Friend) on: Mar 10, 2005

  • A good neighbor is hard to find. We will sure miss you Eunice, but we believe that you are happily reunited with George. - Posted by: Trish Blumm (Friend) on: Mar 09, 2005
