Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGRETA KUMKA On Monday, March 7, 2005, our mother and grandmother passed away at the age of 84, after a brief illness. Greta was born on January 17, 1921 in Newtownards, Northern Ireland. In January of 1929, Greta and her mother Elizabeth Henderson, immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg. In 1946 Greta was married to Michael Kumka (predeceased in 1987). Greta worked in various positions in Winnipeg, ending her working career at Rice Sportswear. Her only son, Irwin, and his wife Karen survive Greta. Her greatest joy was to spend time with her beloved grandchildren, Gillian and Bryce. Nana was very proud of their accomplishments and loved to tell her friends about their successes. Many enjoyable hours were spent at the family cottage at Albert Beach. Greta was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. A funeral service, followed by the interment will be held on Saturday, March 12 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A reception for family and friends will follow. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends who wish to make a donation in Greta's name may do so to The Order of the Eastern Star St. James Chapter #25, 612-233 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M4.
