Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLYDIA SCHIMUNEK Peacefully, on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at the Red River Place Personal Care Home in Selkirk, Lydia Schimunek aged 98 years. She is survived by her three daughters, Frieda (Stanley) Bilinski, Lillian (Fred) Kotowich and Florence (Wayne) Brown; eight grandchildren, Lorraine (Fred), Allan (Carol), Gerry (Kim), Alf (Lyn), Laverne (Ed), Carol (Dann), Jason (Nancy) and Carrie (Suni); eight great-grandchildren, Karyn (Ryan), Karla, Rhonda (Josh) Christopher, Jaime, Calvin, Heather and Pamela (Chris) and three great-grandchildren, Chelsie, Rebecca and Bruce. Lydia is also survived by her sisters, Hilda Shimonek, Emma Churchill and Elsie (Gus) Lemke and her brother Bill Bittner and their families. She was predeceased by her sister Pauline Sheppard; sister-in-law Velma Bittner and brothers-in-law, Stanley Churchill, Norman Sheppard and Henry Shimonek. Mom and Dad spent their retirement at Enderby, BC where they enjoyed the warmer weather. Dad passed away in 1976 and Mom continued to travel extensively till the age of 90 when she broke her hip and required nursing care. In 2002 she transferred to Red River Place to be closer to her family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 12 at 11:00 a.m. in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with a viewing one half hour prior to. Lunch will follow in the church basement. Interment will take place in the Chapel Lawn Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff at Red River Place for their compassionate care.
