Born: Nov 20, 1958
Date of Passing: Mar 09, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE DUBIK November 20, 1958 - March 9, 2005 On Wednesday, March 9, 2005, Irene passed away, with her family at her side. Irene will be sadly missed by her parents, Katherine and John Dubik and her sisters, Mariyka (Yuriy) and Myroslava (Bohdan); along with their children, Adrian, Andriy, Oleh, Orest and Olena. She also leaves to mourn her passing her Aunt Helen Dubik and her family and Uncle Mike Kuriliw and his family, along with cousins in Alberta, Ontario, Poland and Ukraine. Irene was born in Europe and came to Canada when she was 10 months old. She was born with a rare genetic disorder that was not properly diagnosed or understood. However, it did not prevent her from leading a full life. She attended Robertson School and then went on to graduate from Prince Charles School on June 20, 1980. Her favourite teacher described her as a pleasant girl who did neat and careful work and was well liked by all. Later, Irene attended the Hope Centre where she received a certificate of appreciation for her more than 25 years of participation in the day program. Most of Irene's life revolved around her family. Her late grandmother and mother nurtured and tended to her. She went to St. Nicholas Church, where she had her First Holy Communion and especially enjoyed watching her nephews and niece grow up. Her biggest passion were her crafts. Irene loved to colour, do puzzles and rug-hooking. She loved to dance! It is only the last year of her life that was so very tragic. The many doctors who saw her failed to understand and alleviate her pain from her cancer. The family wishes to thank Allison Newton and the many people who cared about Irene and tried to help the family during these painful and trying times. Panakhyda and Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 12 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave., with Fr. Athanasius McVay OSBM officiating. Interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Help us Help the Children Fund. Vichnaya Pamyat KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193

Irene was a very special person. Her giggles made many people smile. I will never forget the two weeks she came to spend with me. She wasn't fond of my cat until about the second last day where I witnessed her patting the cat with a huge smile on her face. Irene surprised me when she sang to Oh Canada when watch Canadian Idol. We will miss you dearly. - Posted by: Cheryl Hill (Friend) on: Mar 11, 2005
