THOMAS (TOMMY) MCCORMICK Peacefully, on Monday, March 7, 2005 Thomas McCormick passed away at the Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 94 years. He is survived by his daughter Joan Hadath and husband George, son Jack and wife Barbara. He had eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, first wife Sarah (Sadie), second wife Anne, son George, brothers and sisters in Scotland. Tommy was born July 29, 1910 in Girvin, Scotland. He came to Winnipeg in 1929 at the age of 18. He was an avid soccer player in Scotland and continued in Winnipeg where he played for many years. He worked and retired from the Winnipeg Transit after 46 years service. He retired in 1975. He was a member of the Amalgamated Transit Union where he was the most senior retiree. Tommy served in the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders and The Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) where he saw service in Great Britain during the Second World War. He was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Fort Garry Imperial Veterans Branch No. 252, and the Army, Navy Air Force Veterans in Canada Fort Garry Unit No. 60. The family would like to thank the staff of Deer Lodge, especially T5 for their patience and kindness in caring for our father. Cremation has taken place and at Tommy's request there will be a private family gathering. Flowers are gratefully declined; instead donations may be made to CancerCare.
