April 2, 1923 - March 21, 2004 It is with sadness we announce the passing of our Aunt Christina on March 21, 2004 at the Charleswood Personal Care Centre, at the age of 80 years. She will be remembered by her brother Gordon; nieces Eva (Joe) and Carolyn; great-niece Bonnie; sister-in-law Mary; nephew-in-law Peter (Margaret); great-nieces, Teresa and Christine and other relatives. Christina was predeceased by her husband Peter 2001; parents, Fred 1960 and Jennie 1989 Bailey; brothers, Earl 1981, Harold 1992 (Gwenda 1969), Frank 1966 and Ralph 1985; niece Wendy 2003; parents-in-law, William 1971 and Teresa 1987 Andrusyk; and sister-in-law Olga 1949. Christina was born in Ebor, MB to Fred and Jennie Bailey on April 2, 1923. She was the second of six children and the only girl. The family moved to Maryfield, SK a few years later. This is where Christina spent her childhood and dreamed of becoming a nurse. With the support of her family, Christina was able to achieve her goal and entered nursing at Brandon General Hospital. After graduating in 1945, she came to Winnipeg to continue her post-graduate studies. It was here she met Peter. They were married July 6, 1948. Christina worked at the Winnipeg Clinic until the birth of her son Donald in 1954. She then took a sabbatical and returned to nursing in 1963 to the Health Sciences Centre. She was Head Nurse on A5 until her retirement in 1985. After the death of Peter, Christina moved to Amber Meadows. She enjoyed her time there and the people she met. With failing health, she became a resident of the Charleswood Personal Care Centre, where she resided until her passing. We extend a thank you to the staff, at both Amber Meadows and Charleswood Personal Care Centre, for your kindness, care and compassion. Cremation and a private service have taken place. As there was no formal service for your closure: Please, take a moment to reflect on your memories of Christina and cherish the time you spent with her.
