DORA HOWAT 1907 - 2005 It is with sadness, the family announces the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Dora Howat on Monday, February 21, 2005 at Victoria Hospital at the age of 97 years. She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Richardson (Frank) and granddaughters, Michelle, Lynn and Christine Richardson, Kelly Moore (Blair) and great-granddaughters, Arabella and Callista Moore. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Wallace, who died in 1985. Dora was born on the family farm outside of Roland, MB on November 25, 1907. She lived there and received her schooling in the Roland area until leaving to attend United College and Normal School, where she enjoyed participating in various sports. After several years of teaching in Southwestern Manitoba she married Wallace Howat of Belleview, MB in 1938 and resided there briefly before returning to the Roland area and family farm where they lived until retiring in 1976. Throughout her many years she was active in the community and delighted in gardening and in her grandchildren and later great-grandchildren. In 1994 Dora moved to Winnipeg to be closer to her family. The family would like to extend a special remembrance to those at Silver View Estates who embraced her as a longtime friend. To the staff at Rosewood Village we extend a thank-you for time spent with her. A special thank-you goes to the 8th floor staff at Central Park Lodge for their care and consideration. This went a long way to make her last months more enjoyable and comfortable. The family also wishes to thank the staff at Victoria Hospital. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dora's memory to the charity of their choice. A graveside service will be held March 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery, Roland MB. The family wishes to invite friends of Dora unable to attend the graveside service to join them for lunch at Doyle's Funeral Home in Carman, MB following the service. We love you Grandma (G.G.) and we will miss you always. Doyle's of Carman in care of arrangements. www.doyleschapels.com
